Mission and Philosophy

Mission:
As a Catholic college- preparatory secondary school, Archbishop Spalding High School is committed to challenging our students to grow spiritually, academically, physically, and socially. The school community provides a caring environment that affirms the dignity of the individual and promotes learning.

Philosophy:
Archbishop Spalding High School is a Roman Catholic, co-educational, secondary school committed to the values and teachings of Jesus Christ and rooted in the belief that, “A true education aims at the formation of the human person spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.”1 We believe this is accomplished by challenging and motivating students to attain their highest personal and academic potential in a diverse community that affirms the values of faith and service to others.

  • Statement of Objectives

    To recognize the teachings of the Church in matters of faith and morals, and to provide a well-developed program in the traditions and doctrines of the Catholic Church.
     
    To provide opportunities for students to nurture their faith through personal and communal prayer, reflection, and service to others.
     
    To provide a safe, disciplined environment, which engenders mutual respect and self-direction through positive example and a well-maintained code of conduct.
     
    To challenge students academically through a rigorous college preparatory curriculum incorporating innovative technologies in all grades and in all subject areas.
     
    To provide qualified, well-trained faculty and staff whose continued professional growth and development are promoted.
     
    To foster within each student the development of personal goals, self-esteem, and respect for the values, opinions, and cultures of others.
     
    To afford students resources and opportunities for personal and social growth through curricular and extracurricular programs that promote spiritual, intellectual, physical and social development.
     
    To guide students in their development of competency in communication, thinking, problem solving, research, and other critical skills.
     
    To encourage participation in and appreciation for the arts through a comprehensive Fine Arts program fostering study, production, and performance throughout the disciplines both in the classroom and extracurricular activities.
     
    To provide students with a network of support services which will assist in their personal growth and development, socially, academically, vocationally, emotionally, and spiritually.
