Archbishop Spalding’s curriculum prepares graduates for entry into the most rigorous college programs.

College Preparatory, Honors, and Advanced Placement programs are available in all disciplines for accelerated and gifted students.

Credits:
A total of 27 credits are required for graduation. (See table below.)

Grading:
  • The year is divided into four marking periods.
  • Report cards are issued at the end of each period.
  • The lowest passing grade is 65%.

    In addition to the requirements below, students need:
    successful completion of CPR, attendance at Senior Retreat, and 45 hours of Community Service

    Letter Grades:
    Letter grades have the following equivalents:
    A B+ B C+ C D+ D F
    92-100% 88-91% 83-87% 79-82% 74-78% 70-73% 65-69% 0-64%


    Quality Points:
    The Quality Points (Q.P.) assigned to letter grades are weighted according to the degree of difficulty of the material covered in a course.

    These are the values that are assigned:

    Honor Roll:
    Principal's Honor Roll
    All grades greater than or equal to 92%

    First Honor Roll
    Average of 90% or higher with no grade below 83%

    Second Honor Roll
    Average of 88% or higher with no grade below 83%

    Credits Required for Graduation
    Class Credits Description
    Religious Studies 4 Religious Studies is required of students every semester.
    English 4 1 credit must be taken each year.
    Social Science 3
  • 1 credit in U.S. History
  • 1 credit dealing with contemporary issues including local, state and national governments
  • 1 credit of World History
  • Science 3 Some advance courses have prerequisites
    Mathematics 4 Some advanced courses have prerequisites.
    Foreign Language 2 French, Latin, or Spanish
    Physical Education/Health 1 1/2 Credit Physical Education
    1/2 Credit Health
    Fine Arts 1 Art, Drama, and Music
    Computer Science/Business Education 1 Computer Applications I is REQUIRED and must be completed by the end of the Sophomore year. (This course may be waived by passing the department proficiency test.)
    Electives 4  
    TOTAL CREDITS 27 1 credit = 120 hours of instruction
    1/2 credit = 60 hours of instruction
