The Spalding Library Media Center (LMC) serves the educational and recreational needs of the Spalding Community. It houses a collection of approximately 14,500 books, videos, online databases, and audio visual items. The LMC is connected to the school wide network and can share its online databases with the classrooms. We have just completed the process of automating its card catalog. Students can access the online catalog from any computer on the school network.
The LMC's print reference collection includes many specialized encyclopedias (Multicultural Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia of the American Constitution, McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology, etc.) that support the curriculum of the school. The circulating collection is varied and supports both sides of all controversial issues. Additionally, if given a few weeks advance notification, the LMC can supplement its collection with books borrowed from the Pratt Library and other locations. The LMC is an active on-line participant in the Sailor program (Maryland's Inter Library Loan program).
The LMC contains an extensive database providing an easy reference to a wide collection of resources including Historical, Multicultural, and Scientific subjects.
