APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Freshman Applicants
1. Submit the Archbishop Spalding High School Application for Admission with the responses to the Applicant Questionnaire (section 3 of the Application for Admission) and the $100 Application fee.
2. Take the Archdiocesan Admissions/Placement Test (the HSPT) at Archbishop Spalding or any high school of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Applicants in Middle/Elementary schools of the Archdiocese of Washington will take the test in their current school and indicate Archbishop Spalding High School on the answer sheet to receive a copy of the results. Students/parents testing in schools of the Archdiocese of Washington must contact the Admissions office to indicate where Spalding ranks on the applicants list of preferred schools.
3. Assure the submission of a Request for Records and Academic Recommendation forms to the applicant's current school. (This step is not necessary for students attending elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Baltimore. This request is included in the Archdiocesan High School Information Form.)
4. A Personal meeting is optional for every applicant to grade 9 unless the applicant is applying for a scholarship. All scholarship candidates schedule a personal meeting with the Director of Admissions.
For applications to be complete and eligible for consideration, Archbishop Spalding High School must have received all of the following prior to the January deadline for application:
- Copies of permanent records from grades 6 through the most recent grade report (including transcripts, standardized test scores, service hour, attendance, and discipline records)
- At least one Academic Recommendation form completed by English, Math, Science, or Social Studies teacher within the past two years. (This form is not necessary for students attending elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, it is included with completion of the Archdiocesan High School Information form)
- Pertinent information from medical or personal records
- Students of active in parishes of the Archdiocese of Baltimore will provide documentation from a member of the parish staff.
- A personal meeting with the Director of Admissions is optional for applicants to grade nine but required for scholarship candidates.
PLEASE NOTE! IF YOU ARE APPLYING FOR THE AQUINAS PROGRAM ADDITIONAL INFORMATION IS REQUIRED. PLEASE REQUEST (OR DOWNLOAD) AN AQUINAS SUPPLEMENT.
Transfer applicants
Students applying for transfer to grades 10 or 11 do so with the knowledge that there is a pool of applicants waiting for each grade. When openings arise all applicants whose files are up to date will be given equal consideration. Transfer students are not accepted after the summer prior to Junior year. Exceptions may be considered for students moving to the area. Applicants for transfer do not take the Admissions/Placement test. Upper class transfer applicants should forward copies of any previous standardized test scores with their transcripts from middle school and high school. Transfer applicants must complete the Transfer Application for Admission and Transfer Applicant Questionnaire.
Release of Records and Academic Recommendation forms must be submitted to the applicant's current school.

Proficiency Testing
Proficiency testing to bypass freshman courses in Math and Foreign Languages is available to students who have been accepted for admission and successfully completed the prerequisite coursework in middle school.

Scholarships and Financial Aid
Financial aid applications can be submitted on-line http://www.nais.org/financialaid/sss
or are available from the Admissions Office. These should be mailed directly to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid at the time of application for admission. Academic scholarship candidates will be notified following the Admissions test. Applications for Music and Leadership scholarships are available in the Admissions office or by clicking on the Scholarships link above.
