Welcome Back Sophomores

Congratulations on completing your first year of high school. One year down, three to go! Graduation may seem like a long way off, and in some ways it is, but on the other hand your time at Spalding will fly by faster than you think. Now, more than ever, what you do has a strong impact on your life after high school (Yes, there is life after high school). Your decision to study more for each test, stick with that sport you tried last year, or sign up for an academic club or two will positively affect your high school experience and at the same time make you more appealing to college admissions officers.

In the month of October we will have the Annual Archbishop Spalding College Night. The program begins at 7p.m. A variety of colleges will be invited. In addition to college representatives setting up information tables and answering questions, there will be presentations on financial aid, the admissions process, and the NCAA Clearinghouse. Sophomores are encouraged to attend with the main purpose of getting started to think about college and possible options.

Also in October, all sophomores will come to school for half a day, starting at regular time and ending at 11:45am, in order to take the PSAT. The test is the first introduction to the verbal and math format that students will see on the SAT junior and senior year.

The 10th Grade Student and Parent Meeting is an important event held in the Fall in the auditorium. The topic will be "What am I doing here? Am I Making the Most of My Spalding Education?" Please check back for exact dates and mark your calendars for all of these important and informative events.
