National Signing Day has traditionally been the first day that a high school senior can sign a binding National Letter of Intent for a collegiate sport, and athletic scholarship, for Division 1 or Division 2. However, the celebration now includes Division 3 to celebrate the very few student-athletes that move on to play a sport in college/university altogether.
The National Signing Day ceremony was held in the Archbishop Spalding Performing Arts Center and was attended by family, friends, coaches, and administrators. The event was a celebration of the student-athletes' accomplishments and their bright futures ahead.
"We are so grateful for the support of our community," said Mellinger. "It is truly an honor to be a part of such a special day."
